Sweat & (Outside of) the City

The ultimate car driver has RETURNED from the big city to a delightful land where she can tool around in Flanders, the 2004 Civic. That's right, I'm on Long Island.

Alaska, Land of Many Moose Souveniors

hi there folks
i am at an internet cafe in the lovely lil town of seward, AK
i'm on an imac
go alaska!

1 week into my habitat adventure
i've seen a moose, a bear, a sea otter
but more importantly
i've spent time working with an amazing group of people
and, i haven't sustained any permanent injuries on the build site
i've hammered nails
used power saws
climbed up onto an unfinished roof
and consumed numerous diet cokes

but now i must continue on my journey
leave a little note to bring me joy
when i return to NYC

We're missing you during RHD training!

I can't wait until you get back so I can hear all about your adventures and we can dish about what all has gone on while you were gone ;)

You're using power tools? Crazy! Don't hurt yourself (or anyone else for that matter). It sounds like you're having a great time and I'm jealous... but then again doing something like that means time away from the television, so maybe not... Alright, back to the Grey's Anatomy rerun!

I hope you named one of the otters Emmet.

Also, keep in mind that Rider University magazine doesn't use lyrical style in its pages. Oh yeah...did I mention copy is due July 24?

Kidding...well, actually, I'm not, but if you could get us some copy by Aug. 1, we would be very happy :-)

Crab fries from C&P shall be your reward.

And with four build days left, I hope you didn't jinx yourself with that whole business about having not sustained any permanent injuries.

One more thing...Cathy and Cliff keep talking to me about the freakin' World Series of Pop Culture even though I keep telling them I don't want to hear about it.

But...I did watch a few minutes the other night. It's pretty freakin' hard...but there was a sports movie section the other night that I aced, which pissed me off even more so I turned it off.

    The Balance Transfers forever!

Oh, and Ben Folds made an appearance in "I Love the 70s: Volume Two." When talking about the show "SWAT," he guess that SWAT stands for "stupid white asses in tights."

And "Doctor Who" was talked about in the "I Love..." 1978 episode...Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor with the scarf, Daleks and Cybermen! Ah...plain ol' geek-ity goodness.

    Hi Katie,

Sounds like Alaska is treating you well! Stay safe and I can't wait to hear the stories (maybe even some pictures of mooses (what is the plural of moose?), bears and otters). Ok, I'm off!

i went to TJ's yesterday and it was glorious. not quite as entertaining as date night with you, but wonderful just the same to be able to eat again. there is something undeniably amazing about that place...

i promise you have not missed much here. i'm still alive even though i never did figure out what the mystery illness was. i still sleep a lot but that is what summer break is for.

in other news... the french restaurant was absolutely delightful and i think we should go when you get back. maybe invite along a certain whiting brother to join us. it would almost be romantic - but not really.

miss you but look forward to hearing about all of your adventures.
