Sweat & (Outside of) the City

The ultimate car driver has RETURNED from the big city to a delightful land where she can tool around in Flanders, the 2004 Civic. That's right, I'm on Long Island.

these boots are made for walkin'

ok, i don't have boots
but if i did
they'd be walking
because it looks like we are heading for a transit strike
i'm going to try to head home to MD on friday
so here's hoping that if there's a strike
it's a short one
no no i'm not taking the subway to baltimore
but i gots to get to port authority

the plan for this christmas was no presents
but unfortunately, mom didn't get the memo
which means i need to go shopping
mom, feel free to leave some gifty ideas
since you know how to leave comments
maybe i'll get you your own blog!

for christmas i hope to get my medical records from johns hopkins
you see, i requested my 20 years worth of medical records
and before they would send it to me
they sent me a bill for $173 for about 200 pages
granted, it's cheaper than superevil UMDNJ
which wanted me to pay $1 a page
maybe i should put a paypal link on this page
for donations to my medical record fund

and now i'm going to go to bed
zzzzzzzzzz

bah

i have another freakin' cold
my eyeballs hurt
my nose is chapped
but on the plus side
i've gotten an ab workout from all the coughing

so as i'm out flat on the sofa
i see a holiday party taking place
way up on some high floor in a building across the way
there's crazy lights
and i'm sure celebration by kool and the gang
is destined for the speakers

it is damn cold in my apt

the peanuts and me

tonight i taped "a charlie brown christmas"
i saw the commercials for it a few days ago
and i got very excited
i can't say that in years past i felt the need to see it
but for some reason, this year it became very important to me
here i am, at 11:17 pm watching the tape
and boy, do i love it!
the family decided to not do any gifts this year for xmas
(i think do in large part to my complaining about poverty
and lugging stuff around the city)
i think i'm just enjoying the fact that this tv show
is bringing up all those memories associated with holidays
find the presents early, eating all the cookie dough, making lizzie wrap my gifts
not the traditional holiday memories that most have
but they are mine

and i think a lot of it has to with the fact
that i just love the peanuts
the peanuts thanksgiving special is without peer
toast, jelly beans, and popcorn at a ping pong table!!

i spoke to about 80% of my lander RAs on saturday
such a good group of kids
great RAs and amazing people
best part of my seattle experience
(even as i'm realizing that seattle was a pretty much
my favorite place i've ever lived--d'oh!)

wait, i think i figured out one of the reasons i like this tv special so much
it is able to invoke real emotion
for example, when charlie doesn't get any christmas cards in his mailbox
you really feel sorry for him
and once linus starts sucking his thumb and dragging around that blanket
you'll find nothing cuter

and thus concludes my peanuts pondering
